Programming language Python is the #1 most used product for three of the analyzed roles (Data Engineer, Data Scientist, and DevOps Engineer) and #2 for Software Engineers. According to HG’s data, Python has a customer base of more than 2.8 million companies, more than two-thirds of which (68.3%) have 50 employees or less.

HashiCorp, a cloud-based infrastructure provider, announced in April that it had agreed to be acquired by IBM “to accelerate the mission of multi-cloud automation and bring [its] products to a broader audience of users and customers.” HG’s data indicates there are nearly 2.7 million companies with detected HashiCorp installs, and one-quarter (25.5%) of these are mid-sized companies with 51 - 1,000 employees.

While two-thirds (66.9%) of AWS’ customer base is made up of businesses with 50 employees or fewer, VMWare and Red Hat both have nearly even distribution – between 23% and 27% per tier – across all company sizes.
